11-10-10: Trat to BKK

Disclaimer: I post these notes in lieu of prose as I am in danger of
skipping these days entirely and that is unacceptable! I fully admit
that I may never render these notes comprehensible to an outsider, as
defined as one who resides outside my consciousness, and for this I
apologize. Take them or leave them.

Notes:
Bkfst of noodles and no meat!
Taxi to bus station, taxi back to market, mini bus to Bangkok
Hungry monk -- hungry caterpillar
City bus to khao San road, not sure where to get off
Wandered until found a flop house to stay in dropped non-valuable
clothing and went out
Food in the western bit of town, but still Thai fare
walked khao San proper -woosh, crazy.

Suit touts, hill tribe handicrafts and croakers, shirts/clothes
aplenty, fake Id makers - press pass anyone?, street food, music CDs,
thai massage/fish spa, then turn the corner to walk down silver row

Later: Neon lights pumping music, rubber band flung whirligigs, bars:
very strong, we don't check ids!, ping pong show!!! Oh my.

Story worthy: fire crackers, met a guy - today is special, go see
black buddha and big standing Buddha. Ok we will thank you. What? Met
another guy. Today only- get a yellow tuk tuk from the gov and they
will take you to see the black Buddha and the standing Buddha for 20B,
if they charge more, call the police. Ok ok we will thank you. Met a
tuk tuk. Where you go? Today - 20B see black Buddha and standing
buddha. Ok ok thank you we will. And we got in. Nice man at black
Buddha (who was ironically no less gold than all the others), we each
rang the gong three times for good luck. Learn Thai culture, don't
just look. Then back in tuk tuk to go to standing. But then, pull over
and talk about going to Thai fashion. Go look, don't buy, I get a gas
coupon. No thank you. Ok ok we go to standing Buddha. Then pull over
again, ready to walk out, but talk him out of taking us to the TAT by
pretending not to understand, ok ok we will go to TAT after standing
buddha, drops us off and disappears. Sorry tuktuk man, we owe you 20B!
Will donate to the next wat in his name.

Eat at veggie place for dinner, more expensive than street food, but
we had lots of veggies!! Shrooms, asparagus, brok and cauli...oh my.
And mango with black rice yum.

One more wander around khao San and then back to the flop house (new
my guest house by name).
